The new Law 21.719 on Data Protection modernises the current legal framework, incorporating international standards and establishing greater requirements in terms of consent, transparency and security. It also creates the Personal Data Protection Agency, an autonomous authority responsible for enforcing compliance and safeguarding the rights of data subjects.

The law will come into force on 1 December 2026, giving organisations a transition period to adapt their policies, contracts and internal procedures.

Cybersecurity Framework Law No. 21,663 establishes a new institutional and regulatory framework to strengthen digital security in Chile and regulate the actions of the State and private entities in response to threats, vulnerabilities, and cyberattacks that could affect critical infrastructure or sensitive information.

It also creates the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCI), an autonomous body responsible for enforcing compliance with regulations, coordinating incident response and promoting a culture of digital security throughout the country.
