Covarrubias reaffirms its commitment to Technology Transfer at the RedGT Awards
Last night's ceremony for the 9th Technology Transfer Awards, organized by the Chilean Network of Technology Managers (RedGT) with the support of ANID, confirmed that Chile's Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation ecosystem has gone from promise to international reality.
As a law firm committed to the protection and advancement of intellectual property, Covarrubias was proud to sponsor this gathering of the people transforming scientific knowledge into real-world solutions.

A solid bridge between academia and industry
One of the most significant milestones of the evening was the announcement of the strategic alliance between RedGT and ANID. For our firm, this kind of collaboration is fundamental: it is the bridge research needs to leave the lab and reach the market.
Chilean universities — UC, Universidad de Chile, USACH and others — have established themselves as drivers of development. The UC Office of Transfer and Development, awarded for the international licensing of the Neurotinib molecule to fight Alzheimer's, proves Chilean science is solving high-complexity global problems.
Covarrubias and the push for Science & Tech-based Companies
Our participation in these awards reflects a deep conviction: innovation needs solid legal and strategic support to scale.
During the ceremony, our partner Arturo Covarrubias had the privilege of presenting the award in the "Early-Stage Science-Tech Company" category to Bluera, creator of the Wastemill system — an example of the new wave of Chilean startups integrating circular economy and clean energy at the core of their business model.
Protagonists of the evening
The event stood out for the breadth of national talent across categories:
- Social Innovation: the "Fibromyalgia without pain" model (UC Temuco), led by Dr. Olga Vásquez.
- Internationalization: Rubisco Biotechnology, with presence in over 70 countries.
- Innovative Company: Movizzon (Servicios A&R SpA), pioneers in AI applied to banking.
- Technology Management: Luis Enrique Nilo (UAI), for his leadership in worldwide licensing.
A vision for the future
For Covarrubias, being part of this event is not just an act of sponsorship — it is a statement of principles. Strengthening technology transfer is the path for Chile to transition into a knowledge-based economy.
Our congratulations to every winner and finalist. Their achievements show that, with the right support and proper protection of their intellectual assets, Chilean innovation is ready to lead markets and transform society globally.
