Arturo Covarrubias

Arturo Covarrubias is the managing partner at Covarrubias. He is an expert in Industrial Property and he manages the department of litigation, his practice areas are industrial property and litigation related to industrial property and copyrights, both in Chile and abroad. In his professional practice, he has successfully participated in a diverse number of proceedings regarding patents, trademarks, geographical indications and internet domain names of important companies.

For years, Arturo has represented national and international clients of a diverse array of industries, that includes, technology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, cosmetics, nutrition, retail and telecommunications. He has dealt with issues of industrial property and copyrights both in Chile and abroad.

Between 2000 and 2010, Arturo was a lawyer and partner at Silva and Cia., where he successfully managed the litigation department.

From 2013 to 2015 was Co-Chairman of the Latin America Committee of AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association). Arturo was also President of the Board of the Chilean Biotechnology Company Association (ASEMBIO) between 2014 and 2016, and is currently member of the board. Since 2016 has been member of the Enforcement Committee of INTA (International Trademark Association).

In the academic area, Arturo was a professor of Intellectual Property in the Executive LLM program at Universidad del Desarrollo from 2006 to 2011. He has written several articles and given speeches on issues related to intellectual property. Also, he has collaborated in discussions on different legislative projects that modify the regulations of Chilean intellectual property.
